My Shadow, Me, My Light

– Beneath the surface of the night

Beneath the surface of the night,
Some miserable souls ramble,
In disgrace they dwell,
Not knowing where,
the wretched path will lead them to.

Beneath the surface of the night,
When the world hides from light,
Darkness encounters empathy,
Those somber minds open up,
They could not stand the heat of day.

Beneath the surface of the night,
When the black blanket is spread,
They cuddle under with their masks off,
their bruised and naked bodies still bleeding,
from the tight corsets of the day.

Beneath the surface of the night,
when the moon rises with his cloak,
A clan so different from them above,
Change their nails and hair and face.
No trace of them from the day.

Beneath the surface if the night,
when me, my soul and my thoughts,
are so in sync to unwelcome
the most coveted luxury of sleep,
I stare, stare and stare into the unknown.

Beneath the surface if the night,
I wonder and I ponder,
I wear a corset now and,
I wore one during the day.
Their strings have gone so deep in me,
my lungs have collapsed and,
my waist has gone waste.
I remain, but tossed here and there.
Shadow side of me this side and
Light side of me on the other.
I watch me from both sides,
while I stay in between both,
beneath the surface of the night.
