Pomegranate Seeds

FreeVerseRevolution – Pomegranate Seeds– September Writing Prompt #2

Again late for the post !!
things here are getting super busy and I keep missing the prompts !!!

On a lonely night, my eyes are fixed,
on a single pomegranate- probably
the last one of the season.
The crescent moon shines upon
the thick skin of the fruit,
causing the fall of a red haze beneath.
And through the skin, I imagine
hundreds of young hearts
waiting for their way outwards.
To cast a spell on the ways of many,
to stain many lips red,
that can seduce many hearts,
and to later find a way
into the inner wombs of life.
The pomegranate seeds,
dreaming of paving a way of sunshine,
under the ardent lover moon.
But should I let them dream on?
Or should they be made the
subject of my carnal hunger?
Their redness enough to tempt
any passerby- man, animal or the wind.
Or maybe even the moon too
has an eye on the seeds,
for he has been white for long.
But then, I ponder-
who am I to make their fate?
they shall fall when it is time,
or they may end up rotten.
they might be plucked for their juice,
or maybe be pushed down the throat.
But for now, I leave it for nature.
Maybe the tree has invested
all her hopes in this one child of hers.
to birth more of her lot.
Maybe her red color is for some reason,
and her hard skin for another.
Who am I to know?
