Eugi’s Weekly Prompt – AUGUST

Maddi Bazzocco

August has a charm you see,
Ties up summer and fall for life.
As a bridge it stays between,
yellow and orange through seasons.
Autumn lingers in the summer winds,
raising hope for the trees to shed ,
the ones fed up with the baking.
Heat of summer sun,
melting icy Popsicles, only
to stain the prettiest of pink frocks.
The bright yellow ball,
stays a bit longer, thus
leaving them parched and thirsty.
Outdoor scents of gladioli,
poppies or was that opium ?
Those yellow meadows,
and those lemonades,
sticky hands and sweaty kids.
The warm afternoons spent
in the shades of trees,
and many dreams woven with
new found love during warm nights.
The silly talks under
the cool moon beams with
the fluttering of dragon flies.
And the jars of fireflies exchanged,
with a promise of meeting next year.
And then with the summer end,
the fall begins and all of August,
becomes a memory so sweet.
The month passes by,
but the magic sticks around.
