-Who is your inspiration?
-Who is your role model?
I remember seeing these questions in books since school days. I know each one of us have answered it at least one time. Including me, everyone would have cited some random names. Those successful celebrities, those famous social workers, someone from our own family circle or peer group- it could be anyone. It could be their confidence, empathy, stardom, style, desire, wisdom or anything that have made them who they are and that attracted us towards them.
But there is another term – Imitation- which is always linked with inspiration. Let us do a detailed check up on what is meant by Inspiration.
It is normal to get inspired, to get motivated but in a constructive manner. It can tend to be destructive when the word inspiration gives way to imitation. Imitation – When we try to copy something or in this context – “someone”.
In the process of getting inspired – we always try to be like that special someone. That, my friend, is unacceptable. Our subconscious tries to be the “someone” in all way and in the process, somewhere along the way, we lose ourselves. Instead of bringing the growth spurt, it destroys us.
We are all made different and that is why we are all unique. It is the uniqueness that makes us so special. Just think – We were destined to be best in something we are really good at. We were destined for greater deals in life. But we completely ignore this fact when we were trying to be like that someone. Who is the loser here? It is US. And we are doomed. Our life can change drastically when we lose our uniqueness and our self.
Inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative (by definition). See what I meant? That is the definition of Inspiration. It should stimulate us and force us to work hard towards our goal.
So everyone – Drink in the traits, Ward off imitation and Embrace uniqueness.
Be an original and not a duplicate copy !!
That’s all Your Honor. 🙂
